Hendo Breweries

Hendersonville has a great, and growing, selection of micro and local breweries where anyone can gather with existing friends or meet new ones. Each one has its own unique style, atmosphere, and frothy selections, so why not visit them all?

  • Dy Falls Brewing Company
One of the newer entrants, Dry Falls opened in the latter half of 2018 in what used to be an auto body shop. The father/son duo of Jeff and Evan turned their hobby in a business. The open floor plan and garage doors make it an ideal place to grab a cold beer when the weather is nice. On peak days, a food truck is usually parked onsite to compliment the 15+ beers on tap.
Located: 425 Kanuga Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28739
  • Guidon Brewing Company
Pronounced Gi-don, this brewery combines the American-German heritage of owners Mike and Connie Baer who opened the doors in January 2019. The recycled and upcycled space is meant to inspire Gemütlichkeit, translated to warmth, good cheer, and friendliness from German. Guidon keeps a rotation of around 5 beers on tap and hopefully they also follow Reinheitsgebot, German beer purity law permitting only water, hops, and barley in the brewing process, for some of their selections. Read their write-up in Bold Life.
    Located: 415 8th Ave E, Hendersonville, NC 28792
  • Sanctuary Brewing Company
Owners Joe Dinan and Lisa McDonald are advocates for their neighbors, animals (dogs welcomed), and great beer. After stints at several breweries, including Goose Island and Wicked Weed, Joe opened Sanctuary with Lisa in 2015. Sanctuary is located in downtown Hendersonville and hosts a lively music scene on most nights to compliment the 10+ brews on tap.
Located: 147 First Avenue East, Hendersonville, NC 28792
  • Southern Appalachian Brewery
Located off 8th Avenue in Hendersonville, SA Brewery has been on the local scene since 2011. The place is known for their Belgian-style brews but also offers wines for non-beer drinkers. The large outdoor area is a treat during good weather and you can easily barhop back-and-forth with Guidon which opened next door.
Located: 822 Locust St, Hendersonville, NC 28792
  • Triskelion Brewing Company
It’s easy to drive past Triskelion on 7th Avenue without realizing it’s a brewery. The modern exterior gives way to a cool interior with a mezzanine upstairs area that can be rented out. But the point here is the beer which ventures outside the run-of-the-mill. Take Firefly as an example which the owners describe as, “our special summer release Mango IPA. More malty and sweet than our classic West Coast style, it is also more hoppy and aggressive in our use of El Dorado and Azacca hops. Layered with 5 hop additions, this tropical fruit forward beer is drinkable and refreshing.” So if you are looking for something different, give this place a try. It is also within an easy walk of Guidon and Southern Appalachian Brewery.

  • Sideways Farm & Brewery
Jon and Carrieann Schnieder landed in Etowah by the way of Florida and bought an 11-acre farm in 2015. After a couple of years restoring the soil, the couple is planting hops among other things. More than any other brewery in the area, Sideways focuses on small-batch artisanal creations to wet the palate. Read more in the Mountain Xpress article.
Located: 62 Eade Rd, Etowah, NC 28729
  • Oskar Blues Brewery
Started in 2002, this beer-in-a-can brewery cranks out its signature Dale’s Pale Ale every year. The company expanded to North Carolina with a taproom in Brevard and the nearby REEB Ranch that mixes bicycles, beer, and events in one hipster venue.
  • Bold Rock Hard Cider
Originally started in Virginia through a collaboration between a VA farmer and a Kiwi cider maker, Bold Rock quickly expanded and established its Mills River brewing location in 2015. The brewery offers tours at 1, 3, and 5PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Located: 72 School House Rd, Mills River, NC 28759
  • Sierra Nevada
This place shouldn’t need an introduction. The beer with Chico, California roots now brews most of its supply out of its Mills River, NC location. The multimillion-dollar campus is a great place to hang out or grab some interesting eats at the 400-seat onsite restaurant.
Located: 100 Sierra Nevada Way, Fletcher, NC 28732
