Hendo Top Restaurants 2019
Hendo punches above its size when it comes to culinary delights. The town has some serious food chops. Local restaurants generously give back to the community through several annual events that donate a portion of the bill to good causes. Examples include the annual Food for Thought to support education and Hunger and Thirst to support Safelight, a non-profit supporting survivors of interpersonal violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
While I have yet to try every restaurant and food joint, some of my favorites to-date include:
- Brooks Tavern – burger
- Hendough – Egg in a Basket (trust me)
- Never Blue – lots but the desserts are killer
- Hubba Hubba Smokehouse – pulled pork and sides (confirm they are open before you go)
- West First – wood fired pizza with the Prosciutto & arugula hitting the mark for me
- Dat’s Cajun Caffe – not N’awlins prices, but spot on Cajun
- Great American Hot Dog – odd considering the name, but go for the fried seafood
- Boon Choo Thai Express – ho hum strip mall locale, but best Thai in Hendo
