Local WNC Business: Razberry Threads
- What is your business all about? How long have you been in business?
My business, Razberry Threads, is a gift store carrying uniquely designed and thoughtful gifts while the Asheville location also carries a custom line of children and ladies clothing. The whole store concept was born out of my love of sewing from a young age. Our clothing designs range from one-of-a-kind tops, dresses, shorts and jumpers – not something you’ll find in department stores. Our kid’s clothing, under the label of Backyard Feathered Friends,
Originally, I sold my line of clothing through local Asheville boutique stores but decided to consolidate sales into one location at the Grove Arcade. Some loyal customers who lived further South in the Hendersonville, NC area, encouraged me to open a second location in their downtown business district. I opened the doors to that location in July 2019 and have been getting the word out and growing the business ever since.
- What do you feel makes your business unique?
Although we are most known for our high-quality and unique children’s and women’s clothing, our store has something for everyone. The store is divided into themed sections including home décor, wall art, men’s novelty/graphic socks, handmade jewelry, stationery and greeting cards, furniture made in West Virginia and curated foods like local honey, soups and handmade teas. The vast variety also means there are gifts for every budget.
- What would you recommend that a first-time customer try?
Our most popular seller is the Backyard Feathered Friends baby sleep sack. It really depends on your interests. Another unique gift are greeting cards from Hannah Dale, a UK-based artist who was commissioned to paint the Queen’s corgis.
- What is your favorite thing to do when you are not in the store?
I raise koi in my outdoor fish pond and love watching them.
- How can people find out more and keep connected?
The best way is to stop into our store, say hi, and find that perfect gift. You can also visit our website, look us up on Facebook at Razberry Threads or give us a call at 828-513-1050 in Hendersonville or 828-275-9785 in Asheville.
