We are talking about across the border into South Carolina, of course! Our neighbors about 40 minutes to the South have just made Travel and Leisure magazines’ 50 Best Places to Travel in 2022 list at number 20. The list is packed with awe inspiring locations in countries like Italy, Switzerland, and Malaysia. So what did the editors find  attractive about Greenville, SC?

“In 2022, the city of just over 70,000 people will welcome a luxury boutique hotel, unveil a new public gathering place, and build on its well-earned reputation as a culinary and craft beer hotspot. The long-awaited, 187-room Grand Bohemian hotel is expected to open its doors this spring, complete with a two-story restaurant and bar, art gallery, and spa. The 60-acre Unity Park will feature plenty of greenspace, an observation tower, baseball fields, playgrounds, and walking and biking trails. And recently opened restaurants, including French Laundry alum Drew Erickson’s Camp, Urban Wren, Coral, and an outpost of Nashville’s famous Prince’s Hot Chicken located inside Yee-Haw Brewing will ensure you’re well-fed while in town.”

The growth has certainly spurred an active real estate market in the area too similar to what we’ve seen here in the mountains. Ryan is a native who grew up in the Greenville area and has been also helping real estate clients in SC since last year. For a day trip excursion we recommend the following:

  • Walk Falls Park along the Reedy River and explore the many eateries and shops in downtown and along the West End.
  • Catch a minor league baseball game with the Greenville Drive, a High-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, complete with a mini replica of Fenway’s “green monster”.
  • Grab dinner in the basement of the Trappe Door, a Beligan-style restaurant with a cozy and cool atmosphere (not to mention great bowls of mussels).
