Hendersonville versus Asheville – Unique WNC Towns

Don’t get me wrong, anywhere is Western North Carolina (WNC) is a great place to work and live! The mountains are our playground throughout the four seasons. Asheville is no exception. Asheville continues to grow attracting investment, tourism, and transplants. The growth comes at a cost with real estate prices rising rapidly and some neighborhoods surrounding downtown suffering from absentee owners and short-term rentals. Meanwhile Hendersonville, only 22 miles to the south, has so far retained its mountain town charm. Hendo, as locals call it, has many advantages over its northern neighbor including:

  • More affordable housing
  • Manageable growth resulting in less traffic
  • Vibrant and walk-able downtown with many shops and restaurants
  • Enjoy Broadway-level shows at North Carolina’s official State Theatre – Flat Rock Playhouse
  • Summer festivals including Music on Main Street and Rhythm and Brews
  • The areas top fall attraction – The Apple Festival
  • Listen to the Hendersonville Symphony
  • Easy access to area breweries like Sierra Nevada and Bold Rock Hard Cider in Mills River

What do you enjoy about Hendo?
